Exploring the Wonderful Metzabok Lagoon from Ocosingo

Starting point: Ocosingo from the hotel reception 

Departure time: 6:00 am

Final destination: Ocosingo  

We begin our exciting exploration journey from the reception of your hotel in Ocosingo. Our first stop will be in Nahá, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast (not included in the tour cost), with 40 minutes to recharge our energy.

Our main destination for the day is the stunning Metzabok Lagoon, a place with a significant name in the Mayan language "God Maker of Thunder". This lagoon is nestled among the mountains of eastern Chiapas, in the heart of the Lacandon Jungle.

During our tour, we will be guided by an expert Lacandon who will take us on a boat to explore the highlights of the lagoon.

Our first stop will take us to TZIBANAH, a cave where we can admire ancient cave paintings that have been etched onto a stone at the lagoon's edge. This place holds deep spiritual significance for the locals and is a testament to the ancestral connection with nature.

 Next, we will visit a site considered very sacred by the local community. Here, we will experience the spirituality and importance of this place for Lacandon culture. To conclude our tour, we will head to the viewpoint, where we can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Metzabok lagoons. This will be the highlight of our experience in this amazing natural setting.

Once we have explored the Metzabok Lagoon and enjoyed its wonders, we will head back to the municipality of Ocosingo. The return is scheduled for around 6:00 pm.
