Discovering the Natural Beauty of Chiapas: El Chiflón Waterfalls and Montebello Lagoons from San Cristóbal de las Casas

We start our day of adventures at 8:00 am with a departure from San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Our first stop takes us to the stunning El Chiflón Waterfalls, which are considered some of the most impressive waterfalls in the region due to their remarkable height. The stepped drop of these waterfalls stretches approximately 120 meters in total. The San Vicente River, one of the most powerful in Chiapas, gives life to a series of waterfalls with evocative names such as "El Suspiro," "Ala de Ángel," and "Velo de Novia." The latter, with its 120-meter drop, is the most impressive of all.

In this natural setting, natural pools of intensely turquoise blue waters are formed. These are surrounded by lush vegetation that creates a tree curtain, offering landscapes that stand out for their reed beds and palm groves.

Then, we continue our journey to the Montebello Lagoons, a natural treasure that is one of the most beautiful places in all of Mexico. These lagoons stand out for their varied aquatic environments, both on the surface and deep within the earth. Here, we will be able to observe and explore lagoons such as Lake Tziscao, Laguna Pojoj, Lake Montebello, Laguna Esmeralda, and Laguna Ensueño. The fame of these lagoons is due to the stunning colors of their waters, which result from a combination of factors, including the composition of the soil at the bottom, the surrounding vegetation, and the refraction of light.
