Exploration in the Lacandon Jungle: Yaxchilan and Bonampak from Ocosingo

Starting point: Ocosingo from the hotel reception

Departure time: 3:30 am

Final destination: Ocosingo

Our exciting adventure will take us to Frontera Corozal, where we will explore two archaeological gems of the Lacandon Jungle.

Our first stop will be on July 11th, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast (not included in the cost of the tour) with 50 minutes to relax before continuing our journey.

From Frontera Corozal, we will board a boat that will take us along the Usumacinta River for 40 minutes until we reach the Archaeological Zone of Yaxchilán. This ancient Mayan city is known for its architecture and its 124 texts, which are found on 30 stelae, 21 altars, 59 lintels, and 6 diverse inscriptions. Exploring Yaxchilán is to immerse yourself in a rich history and enjoy the beauty of its natural surroundings. You will have 2 hours to explore this unique site.

Lunch time in Frontera Corozal after our visit to Yaxchilán, we will return to Frontera Corozal to enjoy a meal (not included in the cost of the tour).

Our next destination is the Archaeological Zone of Bonampak, whose name in Maya means "painted walls". Bonampak is famous for its impressive cave paintings, which are an invaluable treasure of Mayan civilization. In addition to the murals, you will find stelae and lintels that will transport you to ancient times. Here you will have 2 hours to explore and marvel at these ancient works of art.

At the end of our visit to Bonampak, we will take you back to the municipality of Ocosingo. You also have the option to end the tour in Palenque, a nearby city that houses more archaeological treasures. The return is estimated around 10:00 a.m.
